Harmony Project Participates in Pasadena Black History Month Parade & Festival

February 23, 2024 - Harmony Project drumline students from our Pasadena sites took center stage at the annual Pasadena Black History Parade and Festival on February 17. This popular event celebrates the rich history and cultural contributions of African Americans in both our community and country.

Our primary responsibility was support to the two drumlines at Eliot Arts and Octavia E. Butler middle schools. Some of our talented students were represented in the John Muir High School band, while a selection of our Longfellow students cheered on the bands throughout the day. All the marching bands wowed the crowd with their rhythmic and energetic performances! The parade route was lined with cheering spectators, who were impressed by their passion and skill.

Our students have been practicing for weeks leading up to the parade, honing their skills and perfecting their routines. Their commitment and hard work paid off as they received loud cheers from the crowd.

Participating in the Pasadena Black History Parade and Festival not only gave our students the opportunity to showcase their talents, but also allowed them to be a part of an important and cherished celebration in their community. We are proud of our students' impressive performance and their dedication to preserving and honoring the rich African American heritage in Pasadena and Altadena.
