On Sunday, May 3, the Harmony Project community gathered at the Skirball Cultural Center for a historic 25th Anniversary Gala. It was a milestone afternoon dedicated to celebrating a quarter-century of free, high-quality music education and social impact across Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
Thanks to our dedicated supporters, the event was a resounding success, raising vital funds to ensure that we continue opening doors to opportunity and brighter futures for thousands of young people in Southern California.
Honoring a Visionary: Howard Banchik
A highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the Visionary Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award to Harmony Project Co-Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Howard Banchik. Over the past 25 years, he has forged an indomitable bond with Harmony Project and its young artists, serving as a pivotal figure since our inception in 2001.
Joined by his family, Howard was recognized for his unwavering commitment and foundational vision. Howard’s support has helped Harmony Project evolve into a life-changing organization that has served more than 40,000 students through mentorship, community building, and music.
Unforgettable Performances & Student Voices
The gala featured a vibrant showcase of the talent fostered within our programs. From the energy of the Lennox Mariachi and the rhythmic sound of the Leimert Park Drumline to the sophisticated repertoire of the Harmony Project Conservatory Orchestra, our students proved that music is a powerful tool for transformation.
We were also moved by the heartfelt testimonials of graduating seniors Angel and Erika, whose personal stories underscored the real-world impact of your support. Their journeys from the classroom to the stage serve as a testament to the resilience and brilliance of our young artists.
