ANTHONY J BARLETTA MEMORIAL FUND

Anthony "Tony" John Barletta, MD was a medical doctor, a screenwriter, a bike racer, an adventurer, a studio executive, a passionate lover of music and life, and a great friend. Tony loved learning, thrived on challenge and considered the violin to be the most beautiful and challenging instrument in the world; his relationship with it became one of the most treasured in his life and a respite from his high-pressure world.

The Tony Barletta Fund was created by his friends to provide instruments to Harmony Project students in the hope that their lives will be equally enriched and that his love of learning, challenge, and adventure will inspire generations to come. The Barletta Fund has raised $89,000 to date!

Jubas Family at Harmony Project Gala

JUBAS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Harmony Project is grateful to Janet and Marvin Jubas for establishing the Jubas Family Scholarship Fund. Janet, Program Director of Cognitive Communications serving children with autism and their families, and Marvin, an attorney, strongly believe in programs for educating children. Marvin sadly passed away in January 2023. Their admiration for the Banchiks and their desire to educate children inspired them to establish the scholarship fund.

Marvin and Janet have supported Harmony Project for many years; in fact, Janet serves on the Harmony Project Board of Directors. Janet was intrigued by Harmony Project's research with Northwestern University’s Kraus Lab, documenting the significant positive impact intensive music training has on students’ developing brains.

Harmony Project's goals and values align with what she and Marvin believe. In 2015, when Janet and Marvin attended the scholarship interviews, they realized the positive impact Harmony Project has on at-risk students' lives. They were impressed with the students' communication skills and inspired by the students' strength and tenacity in overcoming challenges. Through Janet and Marvin's generosity and kindness in establishing the Jubas Family Scholarship Fund, many more Harmony Project students will realize their dream of pursuing higher education. Harmony Project is grateful for their partnership and support.

JOIN US IN HONORING RYAN’S LIFE-LONG DEVOTION TO MUSIC.

RYAN BRADY MEMORIAL FUND

Ryan Brady lived a life devoted to music as a passionate music executive and gifted musician.

In 2008, the year he graduated from Northwestern University, Ryan was hired as an assistant at Atlantic Records. It was there that he grew into an innovative marketer and a devoted champion for his artists. Being a musician in his own right, he truly understood their journey.

Ryan was curious, smart, creative, generous, and the eternal optimist as he pursued every conceivable avenue, no matter how unorthodox or experimental, to bring the music he loved to fans across the globe. Rising through the ranks at Atlantic, he was a creative director, a digital strategist, and an artist development trailblazer all rolled into one.

Ryan’s passion for music, books, and culture filled every aspect of his life. Alongside his post at Atlantic, he co-hosted Take It Away: The Complete Paul McCartney Archive Podcast. Ryan also co-founded the musical project Uncle Salsa and the Pelican Boy, which released their debut album, Tropical Purgatory, in September 2020.

Ryan was happily married to singer/songwriter Annabel Jones. His infectious love of life and music touched everyone who met him—countless artists, colleagues, friends.

The Brady Family has set up the Ryan Brady Memorial Fund with Harmony Project, as he loved to see the next generation connecting with the power of music, encouraging them to learn an instrument and explore their talent. Ryan was a ray of light, and his spirit lives on in all those who were and continue to be inspired by his irrepressible joy.

Honor Ryan With a Gift of Music.

HONOR RICHARD’S LEGACY WITH THE GIFT OF MUSIC.

RICHARD FRIEDMAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

In his passing, Richard Friedman gave life to seven organ donor recipients. He gave back during his lifetime by teaching English to non-native speakers and pursued his love of music through a career in the music industry.

Richard continues to help others and to express his love of music through The Richard Friedman Scholarship, a Harmony Project scholarship that provides support for underserved children to pursue music and education.

Your donation to the Richard Friedman Scholarship puts musical instruments into the hands of children who would not otherwise have access to music education. Thank you for your support.

FRED K. C. WONG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Fred Kwok-Chung Wong was a devoted husband, supportive father, loving grandpa, loyal friend, and avid guitarist. Fred taught himself how to play the guitar using an instruction booklet and a friend’s borrowed guitar. He joined several bands in his lifetime, performing at various social gatherings and events within his community. In addition to his love of music, Fred had a passion for teaching. In his young adulthood, he was an English and Mathematics teacher for primary school students in Hong Kong. In more recent years, he became a beloved mentor to young guitarists in his bands. May we remember Fred for his generosity, humility, and his valuable contributions to music and education.

Fred’s legacy continues as we have created the Fred K.C. Wong Memorial Scholarship Fund for students of Harmony Project, in hopes that their lives will be equally enriched by music and lifelong learning. Donations received in memory of Fred will provide scholarships for private lessons to students who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment and dedication to their musical studies. Thousands of students across Los Angeles thank you for your support.
