Music Changing Lives in LA

Harmony Project Programs
Harmony Project’s programs are currently offered at four “hubs” in inner-city neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Our flagship Hollywood program is conducted in partnership with the Professional Musician’s Union Local 47, which provides instruction and practice facilities.
In 2006, we expanded to South Los Angeles at the EXPO Center, and we launched a partnership with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2007 to create a youth orchestra in that location.
In 2009, our third program hub was launched at Virgil Middle School. Conducted in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Beyond the Bell branch, this program currently serves students from four schools near downtown, including Virgil and Cahuenga, Commonwealth and Del Olmo Elementary Schools.
In the summer of 2010, we launched our Peer Mentoring Program at our Hollywood hub; 40 advanced students mentor two less-advanced peers, in exchange for private lessons. Our latest program hub is supported by the Herb Alpert Foundation and serves students with the Lennox, Lawndale, and Wiseburn school districts.
