Music Changing Lives in LA

Harmony Project Programs

Our intensive music program operates year-round throughout Los Angeles and includes the following elements:

Students receive a musical instrument to take home and use as their own.
Students are enrolled in classes appropriate to their progress. Those who demonstrate superior progress or require special attention are offered private lessons.
All students are enrolled in an ensemble. All levels of ability are able participate.
Orchestras and small ensembles hold concerts throughout the year.
Students are assessed for musical progress and character development at the end of each semester.
Musical Outings
At least twice per year, we organize a program-wide excursion to a classical music concert.
Musicianship Classes
Musicianship classes prepare students for success in their instrumental studies by developing the fundamentals: music reading and writing, rhythm, and pitch skills.
Peer Mentoring
Older, more skilled students “give back” by providing weekly lessons to younger, less advanced students in a semi-private format. Peer Mentors receive private lessons with a professional teaching artist in exchange for their mentoring work.
Enhanced Family Support
Our Social Services Support liaison is an ongoing resource to our teachers and our families, providing families with parent education, help with health insurance enrollment, school issues and more.
College Scholarships
Our college scholarship fund is open to all Harmony Project high school graduates who have been enrolled in our program for at least three years.
